Insurance broker Aon and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation are collaborating to provide a $350 million war insurance program for Ukraine, with $300 million designated for the healthcare and agricultural sectors, and $50 million for war reinsurance. The initiative aims to facilitate capital investment and economic recovery, as Western insurers have withdrawn from insuring Ukraine following Russia's invasion in 2022, hindering business operations in the country. DFC CEO Scott Nathan expressed hope that this program would lead to additional deals with local insurers, noting the challenging yet recovering Ukrainian economy.
