In the early hours of June 13, 2024, a fire broke out in a seven-story apartment building in Tucheng, New Taipei City, claiming three lives. The fire was suspected to have started in the living room on the fourth floor due to an explosion of a lithium battery being charged. A family of four along with their daughter's boyfriend were trapped, with the father and daughter escaping through a window while the mother and son were found on the sixth floor. The daughter's boyfriend was tragically found crushed under collapsing metal sheeting on the seventh floor. Firefighters arrived to rescue trapped residents, but three individuals were found dead on different floors. Investigations are ongoing regarding the cause of the rapid spread of the fire. Death toll had risen to 3 in tragic incident.
