Appeal Hearing for Elizabeth Holmes' Fraud Conviction in Texas Prison

Reported 7 months ago

A panel of federal judges in San Francisco spent two hours examining legal issues in an attempt to reverse the 2022 fraud conviction of Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes, who is currently incarcerated in a Texas prison. The appeal hearing comes after Holmes was found guilty of orchestrating a blood-testing scam using Theranos. The judges showed no clear indication of their stance on upholding or overturning the conviction, and a ruling will be issued in due course. Holmes, now serving an 11-year sentence, will remain in prison until at least August 2032. The scandal surrounding Theranos exposed the flaws in the technology and led to criminal charges against both Holmes and her former partner, Ramesh Balwani.
