According to IDC's preliminary data, Apple and Samsung experienced a decline in smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2024, attributing the downturn to increased competition from Chinese brands like Xiaomi. Apple's shipments fell 4.1% to 76.9 million, while Samsung's declined 2.7% to 51.7 million. Despite a strong global rebound in the smartphone market, Chinese companies dominated, contributing 56% of total shipments, driven by aggressive expansion into low-end markets. Looking ahead, uncertainty remains due to potential new tariffs from the US administration.
