Apple Enhances Siri and OS with AI New Features by Integrating ChatGPT into iPhone

Reported about 1 year ago

Apple is collaborating with ChatGPT developer OpenAI to enhance its intelligent voice assistant Siri and operating system to keep up with competitors in the AI race. At their annual Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced a major overhaul of Siri and many other new features, introducing a personalized AI platform called 'Apple Intelligence' to offer users a more seamless way to navigate Apple devices. Additionally, Apple revealed that new versions of iPhone and Mac operating systems will allow access to ChatGPT through cooperation with OpenAI for text and content generation. The testing version is set to launch in the fall. While this move is aimed at propelling Apple's products to new heights, not everyone welcomed it. Tesla and Twitter/X owner Elon Musk expressed concerns about data security and threatened to ban the use of iPhones within his companies. This integration with ChatGPT may reveal deeper issues for Apple, potentially indicating the pressure the company faces in introducing new AI features into its products, as it recently fell behind Nvidia in market value. Despite aiming to reassure investors, some view the ChatGPT integration as a sign of Apple acknowledging its limitations, making the company's move notable in light of its strict product control policies. Apple also announced the upcoming launch of its mixed reality headset Vision Pro, set for release in the UK on July 12th, following its US launch in February.
