During WWDC 2022, Apple unveiled a new CarPlay interface; however, updates were scarce after demonstrations by Porsche and Aston Martin. At WWDC 2024, Apple introduced further details about the new CarPlay interface through the developer channel, noting that it will be launched this year. The revised interface offers more customization options, integrates features for new-generation vehicles and electric cars like air conditioning settings, vehicle battery status, camera adjustments, and different settings for multiple screens. Manufacturers like Porsche, Aston Martin, Land Rover, Benz, Nissan, Ford, Lincoln, Audi, Jaguar, Acura, Volvo, Honda, Renault, Infinity, Polestar, have planned to integrate the new CarPlay interface in their 2024 models, with Porsche's Cayenne already incorporating some new CarPlay functions in its 2023 facelift, allowing users to control vehicle features through CarPlay. reasons for the delays were attributed to aligning with the entry of new car models in the market and adjusting to the shift towards electric cars, necessitating adaptation to the digital cockpit designs adopted by most carmakers.
