Apple announced the launch of AI feature 'Apple Intelligence' at the annual WWDC event on June 11, Taiwan time. The feature requires devices to be equipped with A17 Pro or M-series chips, upgraded to iOS 18, iPadOS 18 or newer, and will be free to use. With a privacy-centered approach, the AI processes primarily on the device, utilizing 'Private Cloud Compute' when cloud processing is unavoidable. Functions include generating text and images, improving Siri, allowing users to interact by typing, and introducing a customized emoji set named Genmogi. Additionally, OpenAI's ChatGPT 4o will integrate as a chatbot for user assistance on iOS, macOS, and iPadOS, requiring user consent. Future plans involve expanding access to external AI models.
