FTNN News reported that there has been recent online discussion regarding the requirement to link national ID cards to many government online services. People are criticizing the inconvenience of having to pay 250 Yuan and having an expiry date for these cards, calling them 'useless.' However, the Ministry of the Interior explained that these cards have wide applications, such as online tax filing, labor insurance system inquiries, personal data usage (MyData), Taiwan Power APP, Taiwan Water Corporation APP, online banking, national health insurance, and Ministry of Transport supervision service inquiries. They emphasize the importance of national ID cards as a secure and legal means of online identification, with over 4 million cardholders and an average of over 100 uses per year per card. The Ministry aims to promote the diverse applications of national ID cards and provide citizens with a simple and secure online identification service for various aspects of digital life.
