Argentines are spending the most dollars since 2018, driven by a strong peso policy under President Javier Milei. In January, credit card spending using foreign currencies reached $645 million, the highest in years, as the government's efforts to stabilize the peso's value lead many to seek cheaper consumption abroad. As a result, tourism spending has negatively impacted Argentina's trade balance, prompting concerns over a potential current account deficit.
