Asia is set to become the frontrunner in global polyethylene (PE) capacity additions by 2030, driven by increasing demand in sectors such as packaging and construction. The region is expected to achieve a total increase of 28.94 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) from 47 planned and 22 announced projects, with China and India contributing the most. Major upcoming projects include Haldia Petrochemicals' facility in India and various plants in China and Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Middle East and North America are also projected to add capacities, albeit at a lower scale.
