The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has filed a lawsuit against FIIG Securities, a fixed-income broker, for failing to implement proper cybersecurity measures, resulting in a cyberattack that compromised the data of around 18,000 clients. The breach, which occurred between May and June 2023, led to the theft of approximately 385 gigabytes of confidential information, some of which was released on the dark web. ASIC emphasized its commitment to improving digital safety and called attention to FIIG's alleged deficiencies in cybersecurity practices.
