Aurubis AG, Europe's largest copper producer, has commenced operations at its newly established copper recycling plant in Richmond, Georgia. With an investment of about $800 million, the plant is projected to process up to 180,000 metric tons of recycling material annually and aims to fulfill the U.S.'s growing demand for copper by significantly reducing metal imports. The facility is expected to reach full production capacity by mid-2026, producing high-grade blister copper among other metals.
