Australia has given internet companies a six-month deadline to create an enforceable code on preventing children from accessing inappropriate content like pornography online. The country's eSafety Commissioner issued a deadline for the industry to submit by October a plan to shield minors from high-impact material before they are ready, encompassing themes like suicide and eating disorders. The code should establish standards for various online platforms including app stores, websites, search engines, and social media, among others, to ensure user content suitability. This initiative follows previous codes aimed at combating the dissemination of terrorism or child sexual exploitation content.
