Australia's Central Bank Downplays Risks from Non-Bank Lenders

Reported 2 days ago

The Reserve Bank of Australia stated that the risks posed by non-bank lenders in securitisation are limited due to a resilient labor market and the small size of the sector. David Jacobs, head of domestic markets, noted that while there is potential for risk, current signs of strain are minimal. Mortgage arrears remain low despite rising, with arrears rates for residential mortgage-backed securities comparable to those of bank mortgages, supporting the view of a stable financial system.
