Auto ETFs investing in Ford and General Motors saw declines on Thursday, even after President Trump granted a month-long exemption from tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico. The First Trust Nasdaq Transportation ETF (FTXR), the largest holder of these automakers, fell about 1%, and overall performance for the ETF has dropped nearly 14% over the past month. Shares of both Ford and General Motors also dropped significantly during trading, reflecting ongoing market pressures amid tariff announcements, despite optimism from the president regarding growth in the auto industry.
