In France, a prisoner convicted for drug dealing managed to escape while taking advantage of his right to leave prison temporarily to vote during the European election, all under the supervision of guards and police. The escape occurred in the southeastern city of Arles, where the prisoner, originally sentenced to 3 years for drug trafficking, and later 8 years for involvement in prostitution, fled after voting in the elections. Following the incident, authorities initiated a search to apprehend the fugitive.
