The Financial Supervisory Commission announced its record-high lending target of 420 billion NT dollars for banks to strengthen loans to small and medium enterprises this year. Although banks had only reached 28% of the goal by April, Deputy Director Lin Chih-Chi expressed confidence in meeting the target, considering Taiwan's economic growth rate of 3.5%. Historically, banks have exceeded their lending targets for small and medium enterprises, with the top five banks in April being Mega Bank, Sinopac, CTBC Bank, Taishin Bank, and E.SUN Bank leading in lending increases while others showed declines in lending.
