In the Baolin Tea Room food poisoning case that led to 6 deaths on March, the Crime Victims Protection Association has helped 4 families of the deceased victims obtain compensation. The association revealed that each family member will receive 1.8 million New Taiwan dollars. The case involved the use of botulinum toxin in the food, causing deaths and illnesses. This follows the enactment of the Crime Victims Rights Act in July 2023, which changed the compensation system from derivative compensation to social assistance.
