Baseball Player Qiu Dan Released by Team After Drunk Driving Incident Without Any Other Teams Interested

Reported 8 months ago

Former Rakuten Monkeys player Qiu Dan in the CPBL was released by the team last week due to a drunk driving incident. The contract transfer period has ended, and no other teams have shown interest in recruiting him. The 23-year-old Qiu Dan, who showed promising performances in high school and represented Taiwan in the U18 World Cup, was drafted by Rakuten Monkeys as the 3rd pick in the CPBL draft. Despite being utilized by Rakuten in 2021 and achieving a .258 batting average in 102 games, his opportunities were limited due to injuries. With the zero-tolerance policy for drunk driving in the CPBL, it's unlikely for him to return to professional baseball. Qiu Dan is the second player to be released by a team this year without any other teams seeking him, following Huang Yongchuan from Uni-President Lions who was fired for debts and left baseball.
