At the age of 23, baseball outfielder Qiu Dan from the Rakuten Monkeys faced contract termination after crashing his car while drunk driving on the highway. Following a week-long waiver process and no other teams showing interest, the CPBL officially announced Qiu Dan as a free agent. Despite his past successes in the league and winning a Golden Glove Award in 2021, Qiu Dan did not get picked up by any teams, leaving his future in the league uncertain.
