Bavarian Nordic A/S is advocating for the approval of its mpox vaccine for adolescents aged 12 to 17 as a new variant of the virus emerges. The company plans to submit clinical data to the European Medicines Agency after the World Health Organization declared mpox a global public health emergency. Currently, the vaccine is approved for adults 18 and older, but it received emergency use authorization for adolescents during a previous outbreak in 2022. Pending European approval, Bavarian's vaccine could be available for youth later this year.
