Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) reached a new 52-week high after the failure of its $19 billion bid for Banco Sabadell, which did not receive enough shareholder support. The stock climbed to $20 during intra-day trading before closing up 6.68% at $19.48. Despite this setback, BBVA plans to start a €1 billion share buyback, resuming shareholder remuneration.
