As Taiwan enters the hot and humid summer after the Dragon Boat Festival, Taipower reminds the public to do two things before turning on the air conditioner to make it cooler and more energy-efficient. First, open the windows to ventilate and expel heat absorbed by furniture and floors, followed by cleaning the outer casing and filters before the first use to maintain efficiency and save electricity. Setting the air conditioner temperature between 26-28 degrees can save around 6% for every degree increased. Regularly cleaning the filter every 2-3 weeks can save approximately 0.47 kWh daily, leading to a 10% annual electricity savings. Taipower's tips aim to promote energy conservation during the summer heatwave.
