Former Vice President of the Examination Yuan, Li Yiyang (middle), is set to become the new representative to Japan. According to an exclusive report by the Legislative Yuan's website 'The Journal,' former Presidential Palace adviser and Examination Yuan Vice President Li Yiyang was consulted by President Lai Ching-te in April and was surprised but after careful consideration, accepted the responsibility. He is expected to assume the role in August and has already started transitioning his music career to a new teacher for his students. Li Yiyang, who served as a presidential palace adviser from September 2022 to May 20, 2024, during former President Tsai Ing-wen's administration, was invited to gatherings by Tsai. Lai Ching-te's initial choice for the position was the current representative to Japan, Tse Chang-ting, but after Tse expressed his wish to return to Taiwan, Li Yiyang was eventually selected. Tse Chang-ting has already begun the handover process with Li Yiyang, setting aside past political disputes. Both Tse Chang-ting and Li Yiyang, coming from the same generation of Beautiful Island Lawyers with former President Chen Shui-bian, will continue to deepen Taiwan-Japan relations in their new roles. Li Yiyang, who unexpectedly discovered his musical talent while selling second-hand musical instruments post-Chen Shui-bian's resignation in 2008, is now preparing to move to Japan, balancing packing, briefings, and transitioning his music career while ensuring his students are in good hands to pursue their musical interests.
