Following the ongoing conflict in Gaza, a reconciliation conference between rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah, successfully mediated by Beijing in late April, has been indefinitely postponed. The conference, initially scheduled to take place this month in Beijing, has been halted with no new date set. The deep-seated animosity between Hamas and Fatah, along with accusations of lack of negotiation sincerity from both sides, has raised doubts on whether the reconciliation arranged by China could be achieved. The conflict has resulted in numerous casualties, with Gaza officials reporting 37,626 Palestinians dead and 86,098 injured as a consequence of Israeli airstrikes and attacks.
