During questioning at the Legislative Yuan, Taiwan's Ministry of Education Deputy Minister Yeh Bing-Cheng mentioned he only found out about the controversy at Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA) through Instagram, as pointed out by DPP legislator Wu Pei-Yi. The issue arose when students, frustrated by the lack of maintenance in university dormitories, discovered that the university's president had a newly renovated luxurious office while dorms remained neglected. The long-standing maintenance issues led to students expressing their displeasure on social media. Additionally, it was noted that TNUA had received government subsidies meant for dormitory renovations but had utilized the funds for other purposes. Legislators called for better avenues for student grievances and criticized attempts to cut assistant teaching fees and alter labor agreements for cost-saving measures within the university system.
