On June 13, 2024, during the breeding season of the Eurasian jay between April and July, these territorial and aggressive birds often peck at people due to their protective behavior. A resident in Yilan County shared on a Facebook group seeking advice on being constantly chased by Eurasian jays in their community. Suggestions from netizens to avoid these attacks included not wearing dark-colored clothes or hats, wearing a safety helmet, and using a whistle when they approach, as the birds mistake black for their own kind. Many shared their own experiences and recommendations, such as shielding with a school bag in the past or cycling faster to evade the pursuit.
