The Criminal Investigation Bureau warns the public about phishing texts claiming to be from utilities companies like Taiwan Water Corporation and Taiwan Power Company. Scammers send messages about overdue water bills with a link to a fake webpage where victims unknowingly provide credit card information, resulting in a loss of around 60,000. The Bureau advises verifying such messages by contacting the companies directly and emphasizes that official messages from these companies will use the official shortcode '111' without providing any URL links. Stay vigilant of suspicious texts and report any doubts to the authorities.
