Recently, a person surnamed Zhan received a fraudulent text message impersonating the Taiwan Water Corporation, demanding immediate payment of overdue water bills under the threat of water supply termination. Similar phishing texts have also been sent in the name of the Taiwan Power Company. To combat these scams, both companies have implemented a '111 code' policy for official text messages. They advise the public to be cautious of unauthorized texts with suspicious links and to verify by contacting the companies directly. If in doubt, individuals can also call the anti-fraud hotline at 165 or visit the Ministry of the Interior Criminal Investigation Bureau's fraud prevention website for assistance.
