As housing prices rise in Taiwan, the cost of renting a house also increases, leading to a rise in rental scams online. One man fell victim to a scam after being asked to pay a deposit upfront before viewing the property advertised at a below-market price. The Criminal Investigation Bureau advises the public to be cautious, not to make payments before signing contracts, verify the landlord's identity, and avoid suspiciously low-priced rental listings to prevent falling prey to rental fraud.
