Beware of RSV Virus in Summer, Especially for Young Children

Reported 12 months ago

As the COVID-19 pandemic and flu season continue, pediatrician Lin Zhiwei warns parents about the prevalence of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) among children under 2 years old. RSV, typically seen in winter, has been unexpectedly appearing alongside the flu and COVID-19 this summer with symptoms including high fever, severe coughing, and wheezing. Infection lasts 7 to 10 days but can lead to asthma in young children under 2, especially premature infants. Prompt medical attention is advised for children showing symptoms.
