Recently, many people in Taiwan have reported receiving scam messages impersonating Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) and sending reminders about unpaid electricity bills with suspicious links aiming to collect personal information or credit card details. Taipower emphasizes that the legitimate 'unpaid electricity fee reminder SMS' sent to 2 million users is exclusively from the government's 111 SMS platform and does not contain any URL links. Residents are urged to be cautious and verify the source of messages. Taipower has notified the authorities and advises individuals to contact their 24/7 customer service line at 1911 or the anti-fraud hotline at 165 if they receive any suspicious messages.
