On June 18, 2024, Yahoo revealed that shingles, also known as 'snake skin' rash, may not only affect older individuals as commonly believed. Dr. Li Chunquan from the Endocrinology and Metabolism Department highlighted high-risk groups including adults over 50, diabetics, individuals with cardiovascular diseases, COVID-19 patients, those with irregular lifestyles, high stress levels, and weakened immune systems. Diabetics have twice the risk of developing shingles compared to the general population and a 63% higher risk of hospitalization, emphasizing the need for proactive prevention strategies.
