Reported about 1 year ago

Recent years have seen an increase in lithium battery fires, with the Taipei City Fire Department urging the public to avoid using damaged or swollen lithium batteries. The most common cases involve lithium batteries for electric vehicles and power banks catching fire due to overcharging or using uncertified electrical products. It is recommended to immediately stop using lithium batteries displaying signs of swelling, heating, or smoking, and immerse the defective battery in water before handing it over to recycling units to prevent accidents. The Fire Department has provided safety measures and cautions to prevent lithium battery fires, emphasizing the importance of using certified products, following instruction manuals, avoiding extreme conditions during charging, promptly removing the power source after charging, and preventing physical damage to the batteries.
