Bicyclist Allegedly Runs Red Light, Hit by Car and Dies in Taichung

On June 19, 2024, in Taichung, a man riding a UBike was allegedly hit by a turning car after possibly running a red light. The cyclist, identified as Lin, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the hospital. The accident occurred when a 66-year-old woman named Zhang made a right turn from Wenshin Road to Chongde Road, colliding with Lin riding in the opposite direction. Lin's mother witnessed the incident and saw her son being trapped under the car. Despite efforts to rescue him, Lin succumbed to his injuries. Police investigation and analysis are underway, with Zhang testing negative for alcohol, while Lin's blood will be examined. Lin was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, and Zhang was uninjured in the collision.
