Bicyclist Killed in Collision as Driver Didn't Expect to Hit Her

Reported 10 months ago

In Taipei, a 59-year-old woman named Li was fatally struck by a 76-year-old man named Deng while cycling along a road in April. Deng, driving an SUV, rear-ended Li without slowing down, causing her to sustain fatal injuries. Li's family filed a lawsuit against Deng, who was charged with negligent homicide. Deng initially thought his vehicle could pass by without hitting Li, but misjudged the distance, leading to the tragic accident. Police advised drivers to maintain a safe distance from cyclists to prevent such incidents in the future.
