Big Ten and SEC are currently the highest-earning conferences, and they are moving towards implementing a plan to compensate athletes.

Reported 6 months ago

The Big Ten conference narrowly surpassed the Southeastern Conference in revenue for the second consecutive year, with the Atlantic Coast Conference ranking third among the top five college sports conferences. The five conferences collectively generated $3.55 billion in the 2022-23 fiscal year, with the Big Ten at $879.9 million and the SEC at $852.6 million. The ACC saw a notable increase to $707 million, while the Pac-12 generated $603.9 million, with a number of its teams set to move to other conferences in 2024-25. This revenue sharing model comes as all five conferences and the NCAA have agreed to pay $2.8 billion to settle antitrust litigation, paving the way for a new system where schools will directly pay athletes for the first time.
