In a series of bicycle theft cases in Taipei City, a suspect was arrested after being found to target high-priced 'carbon fiber bicycles' in parking lots, selling them in Facebook groups for a fraction of their original value. From late last year to April this year, the suspect committed at least 29 thefts with stolen bikes amounting to over 800,000 NTD. The 40-year-old suspect Zhou mainly operated in busy areas with many parked bicycles, specializing in stealing high-priced models and reselling them at significantly lower prices. Despite concerns over buyers knowingly purchasing stolen goods, investigators stress the importance of intent and examining conversation details to determine complicity.
