In recent years, scientists in the biological field have occasionally used pop culture references to name new species, such as a butterfly named after Sauron from 'The Lord of the Rings' last year. Recently, a biologist named a newly discovered eyeless spider after 'Khezu' from 'Monster Hunter.' The specimen of this new spider species is currently being kept at the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. The name 'khezu,' derived from the game, refers to the strange dragon in 'Monster Hunter' known for its long neck and electrically charged attacks. Although this naming approach doesn't bring the 'strange dragon' into the real world, it adds an interesting twist bridging virtual and real worlds in taxonomy, prompting anticipation for future intriguing namings.
