Blue and White Parties Call for Avoiding Hatred Mobilization as Dismantling Beam Claimed to Reach Second Phase Threshold

Reported 12 months ago

Reporter Li Youcheng launched the 'Mountain Sea Citizens Dismantling Beam Action' to recall Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang on Sunday (6/30) claiming to have received over 39,000 petition signatures, surpassing the second phase threshold. KMT Chairman Eric Chu and TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je both urged caution in the recall petition process, emphasizing the need to avoid becoming a tool for inciting hatred. Blue parties are fully supporting Xie to counter the recall initiated by DPP members in Keelung, aiming to ensure the second phase of the recall does not meet the requirements. The recent elections in Keelung have been leaning towards the blue camp, with KMT winning the mayoral and legislative seats. Both Chu and Ko emphasize the importance of rigorous and fair recall procedures, with Ko highlighting the need for more stringent petition methods.
