Blue Bird vs. Green Bird Clash in Tainan on the 15th; KMT's First Parliament Reform Lecture Enlists 5 Prominent Legislators for Support

Reported 7 months ago

On June 12, 2024, the Legislative Yuan passed the Parliament Reform Act on May 28, sparking public backlash and leading to a veto by the Executive Yuan; President Lai Ching-te approved the veto, gearing up for a new vote in the legislature soon. Both blue and green camps plan to conduct grassroots lectures, with the KMT holding its first Parliament Reform explanation in Tainan, joined by 5 influential legislators. The recent passage of the Parliament Reform bills led to serious clashes between parties, culminating in a strong passage by the blue and white camps despite protests outside the legislature. Currently, the Executive Yuan has sent the veto bill back to the Legislative Yuan for a vote. Prior to this, both camps plan to conduct lectures, with the DPP starting with a nationwide tour focusing on anti-abuse of power and democratic protection, while the KMT will hold its first lecture in Tainan on the 15th. The blue-green venues in Tainan are just 8 minutes apart, setting the stage for a showdown, with the blue camp planning to hold over a hundred Parliament Reform lectures. The KMT's first Parliament Reform lecture in Tainan will feature prominent figures including legislators Xie Longjie, Ke Chih-en, Hsu Chiao-hsin, Wang Hung-wei, and Wu Tsung-hsien, as well as Secretary-General Huang Chien-ting, with Chairman Chu Li-lun's attendance yet to be confirmed.
