People First Party legislator Huang Kuo-chang of the Legislative Yuan expressed interest in running in 2026, with rumors of the Blue Camp hoping for Huang to transition to Hsinchu. However, recent polls show Huang significantly behind in a three-party race, leading to speculation that the Blue Camp might lean towards supporting Huang to run in Hsinchu County or City. In response, Huang dismissed these rumors as baseless, stating that the current Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an is earnestly pushing forward with city policies and has the support of the majority of city residents, with Huang's party willing to assist. Huang emphasized that the focus right now should be on parliamentary work, and it is too early to discuss the 2026 elections as nothing is set in stone yet.
