On June 19, 2024, the Nationalist Party and the People's Party initiated discussions on amending the Satellite Broadcasting and Television Law, with the Blue Camp's version suggesting that cable news channels do not need regular review and once licensed, they have it permanently. The Taiwan Journalists Association (TJA) stated that if this amendment passes, Taiwan will lose the mechanism to eliminate low-quality channels and urged its withdrawal. The proposal sparked debates with further amendments introduced by Blue and White legislators.
