Blue Party Heads to Taipei Prosecutors' Office After Amendment to Electoral Recall Law Stalled for a Full Day! Accuses DPP of Holding Session Personnel Hostage

Reported about 1 year ago

At the Legislative Yuan's Internal Administration Committee meeting on July 4, 2024, reviewing amendments to the Electoral Recall Law resulted in intense clashes between the Blue and Green parties, causing a deadlock in the session. Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lawmakers blocked the original meeting room, forcing the meeting to be relocated. However, the DPP prevented session personnel from leaving, leading to a standoff. DPP's actions drew condemnation for obstructing democratic processes, with accusations of personnel being held against their will which resulted in the session being adjourned to be rescheduled for the following week, while the Blue Party announced their intention to file charges against DPP members for their actions.
