Blue Party Member Questions Special Import of Intravenous Fluids: One Vendor Previously Violated GDP

Reported 12 months ago

The shortage of intravenous fluids has been ongoing for nearly two months, prompting Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration to implement a special import plan to address the gap. However, a member of the opposition party, Nationalist Party legislator Chen Jinghui, raised concerns as one of the vendors involved had a history of serious violations of Good Distribution Practices (GDP). The Food and Drug Administration assured that if no issues were identified, it indicated that previous violations had been corrected. The situation raised national security concerns as the supply shortage persisted, with debates regarding the handling of healthcare supplies and the establishment of a health promotion committee by President Tsai Ing-wen for future medical-related decisions. Internal conflicts within the government were also highlighted, with the former Director-General of the Food and Drug Administration Wu Hsiu-mei being dismissed amidst controversies.
