Boeing executives are unlikely to be criminally charged for the 2018 and 2019 fatal crashes of 346 people involving the 737 MAX as the statute of limitations has likely passed, according to U.S. Justice Department officials. A deferred prosecution agreement from 2021 was violated by Boeing, and the Justice Department has until July 7 to inform a federal judge in Texas of its plans, which could include prosecution, extension of the agreement, or a plea deal.
