Boeing Faces Criminal Prosecution for Alleged Violations of Deferred Prosecution Agreement, US Prosecutors Recommend

Reported 8 months ago

CBS News reported on June 24, 2024, that US federal prosecutors have recommended senior officials at the Department of Justice to bring criminal charges against aircraft manufacturer Boeing. The Department of Justice found earlier this year that Boeing violated a deferred prosecution agreement and may press charges related to the two fatal 737 Max crashes in 2018 and 2019. Boeing had agreed to pay a $2.5 billion fine and make organizational changes to have the fraud conspiracy charges dropped after three years, but prosecutors claim Boeing did not fulfill its obligations. Other issues involving Boeing's operations also surfaced, raising concerns about safety and compliance. Boeing has denied these allegations.
