Boeing Facing Legal Troubles: Reuters Suggests Justice Department to Prosecute

Reported about 1 year ago

A Boeing 737 MAX aircraft operated by Alaska Airlines had an incident where an entire embedded door panel fell off during a high-altitude flight on January 5th. Reuters reported that after conducting an investigation, U.S. Justice Department prosecutors suggested higher-ups in the department to pursue criminal charges against Boeing. The Justice Department previously stated Boeing had violated agreements made following two fatal 737 MAX crashes. The decision to prosecute Boeing must be made by July 7th. If prosecuted, it would deepen Boeing's ongoing crisis. Family members of the crash victims have criticized the 2021 agreement and urged prosecutors to impose a fine of nearly $25 billion and pursue criminal charges against Boeing and its executives.
