Recent aviation accidents involving Korean Air experiencing a sudden pressure system malfunction and Southwest Airlines narrowly avoiding a crash into a residential area have all been linked to Boeing's '737 Max series aircraft.' From 2018 to the present, these aircraft have been grounded twice. Although current national airlines claim not to use these models, neighboring countries like South Korea, Mainland China, Singapore, and some airlines in Indonesia have procured the 737 Max. Despite safety concerns, with incidents occurring in 2018 and 2019 resulting in 346 fatalities and the aircraft being globally banned for 20 months, as well as subsequent mishaps forcing another grounding earlier this year, the crisis surrounding the '737 MAX' continues to escalate.
