Boeing spends $4.7 billion to revive FlySafe: Acquiring Spirit AeroSystems is a Must

Reported 12 months ago

On July 1, 2024, Boeing announced its acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems, a major downstream aircraft parts manufacturer, for $4.7 billion, aiming to revamp the tarnished reputation of FlySafe. Spirit AeroSystems, a key supplier for Boeing, produces major components for various Boeing aircraft models, including the 737 Max fuselage, while also manufacturing parts for Boeing's competitor Airbus. After months of negotiation, Boeing agreed to this acquisition to enhance safety and stability. Despite a 5% increase in Spirit AeroSystems' stock price, it remains below the $37.25 per share transaction price, showing lingering market skepticism about its prospects.
